When I moved into the home that I now own there was a metel hood above the stove. No fan/vent or light but at least 20 coat's of paint. It's taken me forever to get all of the paint off but finally!!!! Now someone told me if I don't put some sort of paint on it, it will rust once it is put back up. Is this true and if so what do I paint it with??? I Know I would want it to be something clear, thank you!!!

I originally thought I could just tile over it. Some people have recommended I don't. Removing the old tiles seems like a pain. It’s an old house and they appear to be set in mortar that's about 3 inches thick at least. I had a devil of a time with the walls. They were set in mortar as well. Any advice would be appreciated.

Need to repaint my kitchen. It has oak floors and oak cabinets and my kitchen set is wood. I HATE white walls, but I like neutrals. Unfortunately, with all the wood in my kitchen, the last thing it needs is camel colored walls. My kitchen joins my family room so whatever color I use in it will have to work its way into the family room because of the open floor plan. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I was thinking of installing ceramic floor tiles for countertop in order to save money. I will use 1/16 joints with a dark tile and dark grout. The edges will be mahogoney or oak. I would think that floor tile would hold up better because it is thicker and more durable. Anybody have experience with installing this type on counters? tx in advance..

I am trying to get border off a wall to repaint and it was very good border I put it on about 11 yrs ago. It is so stuck on that I can't get it off! I tried different sprays from the store and I and scraping w/a razor blade thingy (made for that) I dug so far in that I went to the drywall. ha! My arms are tired and I only got 1/2 a wall done. I can't paint over it cuz some spots are coming off. I need some cheap ways to help. Thanks alot!!

It will be covering an oil based stain and will receive much use so it needs to be able to hold up. I have some polycrylic, but I'm thinking polyurethane might be better. Or is there something else out there?

I am getting ready to paint my kitchen but cant decide whether to be bold and go with red. My home is a tuscan style and I found the perfect color red but I am worried it will be to much. My cabinets are a dark maple color and my island is a painted antique white with a brown glaze. The appliances are stainless. What do you think?
