I am trying to get border off a wall to repaint and it was very good border I put it on about 11 yrs ago. It is so stuck on that I can't get it off! I tried different sprays from the store and I and scraping w/a razor blade thingy (made for that) I dug so far in that I went to the drywall. ha! My arms are tired and I only got 1/2 a wall done. I can't paint over it cuz some spots are coming off. I need some cheap ways to help. Thanks alot!!

As I advised another person, buy liquid fabric softener like Downy. In a gallon can, place half filled with boiling hot water, and then fill to top with fabric softener. Get a sponge and saturate with the mixture, wait an hour, and then start scraping and then peel off. If it is still difficult, repeat process. I assure you it will come off on the second try.

Did you use a Paper Tiger first? It's a nifty perferation device that puts holes in your wall paper so the glue-getter-offer (can't think of the proper name) can get under the paper to the glue. Also you need to really saturate the paper, even covering with plastic for a few hours if you are up for that. Also do you use any additional glue when you put up the border that might not release with the solution?

Steamers are a last resort, but they do a nifty job.

When you finally have that stinkin' wall paper border off, take the de-gluer solution and go back over the wall. You want to remove all the glue! Even then go back over the wall with something like Simple Green and water....lots of water to get that glue off. If you feel any "oatmealy" stuff on the wall, keep washing. Why am I stressing this? Glue under paint is not good, and once it's under paint, the only way to remove it is to sand off the paint and the glue.......been there, done that!

There is a product called ZIF, just for wallpaper removal. Buy a bottle of this and a sprayer, a pump bottle should work. Like the kind Windex comes in. Get yourself a "Paper Tiger" any hardware store will have them. It is a small device that scores the wallpaper prior to spraying so that the adhesive remover can get behind it . Get a few 4 inch plastic putty knives. Use warm water and lots of drop cloths. Have Fun!

you will need score the paper first and spray it with hot water and DIF concentrate stronger than is said on the container. Let it soak for 10-15 minutes. Then scrape it off. After the paper is gone you will need to remove the glue so it doesnt bleed through your finish coat of paint. use the spray and a putty knife to get the glue off. Then wash the walls with warm water and a liitle dawn dishsoap. If you have pulled the paper off of the drywall to where it is brown you will need to patch this and primer it before you paint. after you have one finish coat on let it completely dry so you can see if anything needs to be primered because it is bleeding through. If it is you will need oil based primer and allow it to dry for 24 hours. you can get this in a spray can. good luck:)

Get a "paper tiger", it is a scoring tool and puts tiny perforations in the paper, a sprayer bottle, fabric softener, and a plastic scraper. HOT water and fabric softener and spray. Wait 10-15min spray again. Wait. Now scrape. It will come off let the water do the work. If you hit a tough spot spray it again and come back to it.

I've also heard that the downy works good, an if you think that's expensive, white vinegar and boiling water a sponge and do the same procedure as with the downy it also works .

What you can do is really simple and my not cost a thing. Boil some water and qait untill it cools so you can touch it the dip a sponge in the water and just rub the sponges on the wall getting the paper very damp. then just peel away.

a steamer is a good way to get the glue to melt. I have also used alcohol in a water mix and sprayed it on.
