The best advice I can give....go with the colors that make you feel the way you want to feel in that space. First decide what feeling you want to have in your kitchen then choose color/accessories accordingly. I wanted my kitchen to have a warm, cozy feeling, and make me feel like cooking. I have light wood cabinets and flooring. My counter tops are neutral mix of brown/tans. The walls were contractor white. I painted them autumn red and added accessories with bits of the colors brown, deep yellow, warm green all accented or framed in black. Sounds very unusual and ugly. But wow! Truly it all pulls together so well. The autumn red with the neutral counter tops and light wood cabinets and floors was truly what the kitchen needed. The good thing, if I ever want to sell my home all I have to do is change the paint to a neutral color. The major things are still all neutral. In the mean time, I can enjoy the warmth, comfy, inviting, and social atmosphere the color created. As far as cooking, reds definitely help you do just that and I have been cooking healthier foods. The bottom line choose the colors that will provide you with the feeling you want. Keep in mind, if you want to sell your home later and don't want to spend much money changing things than keep the expensive stuff neutral. Paint and accessories are cheap.

Hey there, yellow and green are great colors for the kitchen. Keep in mind that warm tones make people feel comfortable and comfy people eat. So, if you want your kitchen to be a cozy place where people gather and enjoy food, warm up your room tones. Mustard yellow and an olive green would work nicely with rust and brown accents perhaps.
Cool colors are sterile and tend to offer more of a grab and go feel to a kitchen. Think hospital cafeteria. So, if you are dieting, this would probably be a good way to achieve mind over matter. A light minty green with soft yellow accents.
Bright colors inspire and awaken people and if your kids tend to do their homework in the kitchen, this color would help keep their juices flowing!
Personally, my kitchen is a bright tropical turquoise and everyone who enters my home comments and says what an unusual color it is. it becomes a focal point...a piece of art. And yes, my kids love doing their homework their!!!
good luck!!

I'm really big on tans/carmels/beige colors because they are so neutral--they just go well with everything. I like a color called Balsam Beige that you can get from Wal Mart. You want the color to be in a satin finish, brand of paint is your choice, Kilz, Dutchboy, or Colorplace. Keep the ceiling white. I would do simple window treatments of basic white mini-blinds with a simple bergundy and gold valance, or whatever color you would like. Appropriate color cordinated towels, just try to keep the kitchen clutter free from to much stuff. Please just stay away from colors that are too bright or dark, and no stencil or mural work.

Try a Terra cotta - it's natural, neutral and goes with allot of common colors. Looks great with plants, windows, wood finishes, and all kitchen appliances.

I prefer to keep my kitchen neutral, like antique white and then spruce it up with accessories. Right now my theme is green (sage green) I have the pot holders, table clothe, a couple of vases and it makes the kitchen seem "green" but when Im sick of it I'll get all say yellow accessories and switch it up

I used lowe's.com to get my kitchen colors. I was scared about what would look good, so I used the virtual painter. You can paint sample rooms (kitchens) hundreds of colors, inc. decorator to find what you like best. Doing it this way, I wasn't afraid of how it would look, & it looks great.
