Research in the USA says that over 60% of men would like to recieve flowers and with the rise in the new man/ metrosexual, current interest in interior design, not to mention gay weddings this makes sense.... I was wondering, if a man was to want flowers, what he would like in terms of colours, style, arrangement etc.

We are looking into buying a home with a corner fireplace in the family room. We'd like to put our entertainment center in there as well. I'm just not sure how to arrange our furniture to enjoy the beautiful fireplace, yet still make sense for watching TV. It seems they can't both be the focal point, so I'm stumped. Any ideas or links to suggested furniture layouts would be appreciated, thank you.

Try to picture these dimensions, and please give me ideas...My living room and family room connect (with an archway inbetween) and the rooms are both incredibly narrow and small. The family room connects with the kitchen/breakfast area which is hardwood flooring, and the LR/DR is all carpeting. There is little wall space due to windows and a fireplace....I can't seem to do anything with these spaces - no matter how I arrange furniture, I can't get a comfortable seating area with a TV in either room without it looking strange. I'm at the point where almost everything is removed from both rooms and I'm staring at empty space. Any design ideas from professionals or people who know what they're talking about when it comes to decorating is needed - please don't send links because I've googled this topic to death! Thanks!

Is there special paint needed? I'm assuming special special rollers...I'll be painted it with rollers. But what kinds of variables do I need to consider.

hey there, im in my early 20s and i just moved into an apt and my room walls are sooo boring.
i'm really bad at decorating and creativity, so if u guys can give me good cheap ideas i'd appreciate it.
a little about me: I'm a HUGE music buff...i listen to everything from 2pac to the white stripes...
i also love indie movies.
i hate bright and pastel colors! i really like black and white, red, and bold colors. my bedding is a deep red color so i was thinking of something that can play on that.
i dunno, i dont really like the typical meaningless art paintings ppl throw up on their walls, so i want something to reflect me, give me ideas on how to do that!! and i dont want to tape posters on my wall bc im no longer in college!

i was going to get album frames and order posters of my fave artists/bands album covers and place them in the frames- but is that tacky? and would it be weird to have rappers and rock band posters on the same wall?

I want a new bedroom comforter set but I don't want it to be pink that would just be to much pink I wanted black and white but everything I see looks old-ladyish.. I want a teenish/20 something year old looking, I want something nice, any suggestions?

Thank you.

I have a modern/contemporary taste. The wallpaper in my new homes guest 1/2 bathroom looks like Easter and the dining room wallpaper is flowers...not my style. I hear that wallpaper removal is one heck of a chore and can be tedious so I'm scared to venture in that direction. I don't want to paint over it. So I didn't know if it's possible to apply floor laminate to walls? Any other suggestions? Thanks~!

I'm planning what to do with my tax return that will have the most impact. Should I get granite counters for my kitchen, redo the powder room (update it) or add much-needed lighting throughout the house. Ideas welcome. Spending about $5K.

Thanks.

Like, cutting things from magazines etc. I have my room with a lot of posters from bands and artists, but I think I need to put something different in my room besides posters on my wall. Anyone have any ideas? It doesnt have to be only the wall, other stuff. Thanks.

I have a plain, white lampshade that I would like to wrap a pretty, transparent, cloth in, but I'm concerned that the heat of the lamp can set it on fire. Which fabrics should be stayed away from in this regard?

I'm a 20 year old girl (I like modern and bohemian themed rooms) that is opting to switch my new oversized bedroom furniture with older furniture (that actually fits in my room) from my guest bedroom...The only problem is that the furniture is this hideous 80's style oak furniture with lots of curlicues, cheesy faux-marble (i think its plastic) and frost mirror finishing. I'm thinking of refinishing it with my Dad, but I don't have a lot of experience..(he's decent with power tools). Any ideas to refinish/remodel it ..and overall change it? Or should I just give up now, and keep the oversized new furniture?
