If you house is just a place to sleep and hang your clothes, then it will remain a house. A home is a place that you enjoy, a place you look forward to spending time either alone or entertaining friends.
Items in the home should be special to you.........not all items, but there should be "items" that reflect you; family, friends, hobbies, interests. The colors should be those that make you feel the way you want to feel at home: safe, comfortable, energized??
A "ho-use" is to use, a "ho-me" is for me.... put yourself into the home.

I am sure you understand the difference between a House and a Home. First, ensure that you start loving and liking your wife, children, parents, relatives, servants and pets if any. If you are the eldest, try to make them happy, share their problems, grief or whatever. Help them if you can materialistically. If not, help them morally, mentally and psychologically. Keep it neat and tidy. Carve a name for your Home in the neighbourhood if possible. Have a place to remember GOD (Whichever religion you practice) and meditate when you feel like. When you finish office or work, there shuold be this inner feeling in you which will force you to reach your home at the earliest, because, that is where you belong, that is where you love to be and spend your balance time of the day. When you get delayed in office, the home makes you realise that someone is waiting out there and you must wind up fast. Its more psychological than materilistic like curtains, sofas, chairs etc..
