We installed a corner jacuzzi tub and surrounded it with wainscott 3/4 up the wall. We trimmed the tub with some fancy moulding. We prepared it with kilz and attached it with clear silicon. The tiniest little bead of silicone oozed out under the moulding. I used white tub caulk as a final seal and kilz and painted over that. It is all working well but the surface has a crack and I suspect it is right over the place where the silicon oozed. I then read on the tub caulk tubing that it will not work over silicon. Is this what is causing the crack in the paint? All of these preparations are working well except in the one little area. Thanks!!

Ack, I'm living in Germany and don't speak German. Painting the foyer red. Accidentally bought the semi-gloss paint and didn't realize it until the paint I was cutting in with started to dry. Will it be a mess if I finish cutting in with the semi-gloss and then roll with matte tomorrow? Or should I stick with the semi-gloss? The foyer is small and not terribly bright--maybe it will reflect the light and look good, rather than frighteningly garish? The walls are a rather porous material, so the paint is soaking in rather than sitting on top. But it does have a sheen to it.

I want to use my empty wine bottles in a creative way and fill my empty wall space at the same time. I can't think of anything except to put up shelving and display the wine bottles on them.

I'm selling my wonderful old Craftsman home, but the hardwood floors are AWFUL. Finish is completely worn thru in places (like in high traffic areas) and it's gonna be a bear to clean. I'm wanting to sell it quickly and cheaply and need to make the floors look decent for showing to prospective buyers. I'm sure they will want to completely restore the floors, but at my asking price, I really can't spend a lot to restore them myself. Any ideas???
