whatever you do, please do what you are comfortable with and forget all this 'trendy' stuff....you would want to stay with the warm color pallette; NO grays, blues, etc. as someone else on here suggested (what are they thinking???) So, go to your local paint store and check out all the warm colors; yellows, corals, peaches, etc..that color family....there is NO SENSE in introducing a cool color into your color scheme!! it will look AWFUL when all is said and done...you also want to get some plain posterboard, and purchase the smallest container of the colors you like, perhaps 2 or 3 choices, at least; paint each piece of posterboard with one color, and leave these in the room for at least 2 or 3 days; that way you can see how all the different times of the day, and the corresponding light, will affect the colors; you may find the one you thought you liked so well doesn't come off so well after all; you need a large area so you can get a pretty good idea of what the wall will look like...it takes some time and planning, but it's the only way to go; I know, I made a mistake once and learned the hard way!!!!!!!!!! so go to your paint store and have fun choosing!! email me if you have any further questions..Good Luck!!!

If you are a women and wants to have a more feminine atmosphere, I would suggest you to try a color like salmon, to mix with your dark chocolate couches and with your beige carpet. Your home would have an appearance of a Godiva chocolate box.
You can also try painting on a pastel yellow but the contrast with the already light beige floor will be less favorable than the salmon.
Your chances, to go right is high if you stick on pastel tones to break the dark tone of your sofa and mix with the light beige carpet. White its a great option if you are looking for a Ralph Lauren style. The contrast of dark brown with white and woods is very much his style that would be great if you could add some fake animal rug on your beige carpet.
PS: For a pastel wall, add some very and small colored pictures on the wall, on pastel colors too but not the same wall color on the pictures. If you go for the White wall, hang some pictures of natures, animals (zebra will be great) on black and white with wood frames or a big very colorful abstract painting with very hot tones of colors in the paint.

You will get all kinds of Navaho White and Antique this and that answers, but the best color I ever have used is the one we recently used by Kelly Moore.

It is called TWIN PEAKS. About 1 out of 3 people coming into our home comment on how beautiful our wall color is. About half of those ask us what the color is. It is a neutral color and well worth your time to check it out...on your walls.

Take a piece of Boise Cascade Laser Printer Paper in White 98% brightness into your local Sears or other places which mixes paint colors and get them to match it. Then when you open the blinds the sun will reflect and now be INDOORS!

Ugh! No! You already have a blank, neutral pallette. If you do white walls, you will have nothing but bland, bland, bland. How big is the room? A really great new color combination is steel gray and brown. Gray, of course, is a neutral, but it is a neutral that has more punch than white. Choose a cool gray in the blue tones. Then accessorize with wonderful oranges and blues. Check out the shades called "Federalist," "Mirador," "Wall Street Blues," "Dolphin Dance," "Bali Blue," or any other shades in that group.

the color of dark sand. i used this color in my studio and everyone comments on how great it looks. the color i used is a Behr product 270F-5 called "wilmington tan". I used a very light creamy beige for the trim.
dont use white, you'll get tired of it real quick, and its not relaxing or warm at all.

A light creamy yellow. It would make the room pop. It would be light and airy and goes great with you other colors. If you go with white, it will be so blah....

Accent with yellows, oranges and reds. (pillows, throws, rugs, knick knacks)
Good Luck
Kelli

P.S. I have a yellow LR, DR and hallway and love it.

I think a light green would look nice, something like sherwin-williams' aloe. I think it would be very pretty with the couches.

A beige might work too. But white is so boring...

White is very plain. In your shoes i would think about a shade of light yellow.
