My basement floor is unsealed, it produces a dust like substance. I use the space as a quilting studio and this dust gets on my batting and fabrics. I cleaned the floor repeatedly but the "dust" problem just comes back. Is this a by product of concrete curing? The house is only 5 years old.

My contractor is bugging me to settle on colors for my new house and I just cannot get past some of these names. It is taking me twice as long as it should because I look at the names BEFORE I look at the color.

I don't have enough border to put it all the way around the top perimeter of the room. Also, what's the best procedure for putting it up.

My house has no interior doors. They were all spirited away in a previous life and I have to replace them. I finally found the correct doors and I'm ready to start hanging them. My house is over 100 years old so I'm looking at the old cast iron hinges they sell at so many reproduction hardware stores.

My doors are 1 1/4" thick. I have found hinges that range from 5"x5" to 2 1/2"x2 1/2".

I'm so confused and don't know what to measure in order to get the right size hinges.

Are there guidelines somewhere for this or do I have to order them in a hit-or-miss fashion?

Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks :-)

1)What style is pottery barn considered?

2)What is the difference between comtemporary and modern design?

Any type of clarification would be great!

Should I sand it down, put on new caulk and then prime or just leave the caulk and go over it with new caulk...paintable kind??? Help please!

Hey, do you think it would be a good thing to have a monthly handyman party where an experienced handyman would demonstrate and teach home repairs and maintenance?

This would be like a tupperware party, and door prizes would be passed out, a small fee would cover expenses, and there could be wine and cheese, or snacks?

We have a 2-bedroom apartment and will be moving less than 10 miles away. the heavy stuff that needs to be moved is a couch, treadmill, queen bed, TV armoir and a 40" glass table top. No major appliances will be going with. we also have a couple chairs that are more awekward than heavy. I have no idea how much it will cost and want an idea of what to expect, I really don't want to do another move myself again this soon (we just moved here a year ago)!
