i'm a painter so i'll give you some tips babe,if there is any bits ov the old paper flapping about or pealing make sure you rip it of,get a roller and tray and fill with paste then roll the old paper with it.once you've done that you can use lining paper over the existing paper or a pattern, although i would just bite the bullet and strip it myself, any prob just mail me,have fun!

It really depends how the old paper is. If it is peeling away it is better to strip it. Also when you put new paper on it could pull old paper away from walls. As a decorator i would always strip old paper off first. For the sake of a couple of hours to strip, how many hours/years will you spend looking at the walls!

Just remember, the more layers of paper you put on the harder it will be to remove them in the end. IF you hate stripping paper, your best bet might be to buck up and strip it now, and then paint.
There is a product DIF that works great at making wall paper stripping much easier. my 60 year old mother stripped her bedroom wall paper off with it!! Seriously!!

to paper over paper is ok if the wall ok at the moment because new Willl show all old mistakes and bumps... good idea is to get a steamer turn on and spray walls with water spray gun works well... then shut you room and come back in an hour steam in the room wil penetrate wallpaper then will come of a lot easier

if the paper is smooth no bubbles and flat to wall you can use it as a type of under paper however if it is raised then you will need either a very thick paper over top or you can buy or rent a steam stripper which is quicker and easier than stripping it off with a scrapper.

Dont think thats such a good idea!! Its gonna cause bubbles in the paper! Why not try painting over the wallpaper if you really can t be bothered to strip it?

That depends of what state the wallpaper is on the walls.
You can do it but you may find that you will get a lot of bubbling on your walls so it may not look so good.
It is always best to strip the walls, to get the best result.

Rule is generally that if you only have one wallpapering job on the wall and it's in good condition (not fraying, sagging, falling off) then you can paper over it...We did the den this way and it turned out really nice.

It depends on the condition of the paper that's there. If it is nice and smooth with no bubbles or loose paper you can. If it has a glossy surface you might want to lightly sand it first.
