Yes, it's possible, but standard mattresses don't generally fit well. Measure out the water bed and then check around. My in-laws had to have a special mattress made.

You want to keep your waterbed frame and just use a regular matress right? Well, a regular matress won't hurt anything but your only going to want to use the top matress, not the box spring. It also won't fit exactly like the waterbed matress does so you might want to get some extra pillows. I use a queen size matress in my waterbed frame and put the matress all the way at the foot of the bed and then stuff 2 extra pillows in at the head of the bed.

The standard hard-side wood waterbed frame has inside dimensions of 60" x 84" x 9" deep... You will need to find a California Queen Conventional mattress to 'drop-in' the frame... the standard Queen regular mattress that is usually sold is 60" x 80". So you can shop around the bedding stores, there are many different mattresses made that will drop right in for you... be specific in the dimensions that you are looking for...

Yes, but it ain't cheap. Call around. I know that there is a replacement mattress that you can get from Select Comfort that will replace the waterbed mattress. They sized it perfectly to replace. Other manufacturers are doing the same thing. Just call a bed specialty store.

You can do anything you like, including what you ask. Water matresses are not the same dimensional shape though so you may have some small gaps around the frame deck area.
Once you find your matress, don't forget to drain the old one, it makes removing it a lot easier... :)

♥ You most definately can. Water beds are not very comfortable, and you just need to make sure the mattress fits perfectly. I would measure the opening to make sure it is the same size before going to buy a matterss.. I hope you have it figured out. Anyway... I can look up some stuff if you want me to just Im me or email me if you would like and I will be happy to give you any other information on this matter. Have a great night! ♥
