What style of interior design would pottery barn be?

I have a couple questions about design styles:

1)What style is pottery barn considered?

2)What is the difference between comtemporary and modern design?

Any type of clarification would be great!

Its out of date, but something about it is still in style. Country houses and cottages are contemporarily designed, because it would look awkward if it was modern in the inside.
