I've never USED any. personally, but I've torn off, replaced, and hauled truck loads of it to dump sites. I've also painted over it a few times at a customers request, and it seemed like the finish was rougher after the paint job.

As far as I'm concerened is particle board, and I refuse to use any level of the product in any work I do.

I'll assume it may be less expensive than other substances, and might even be a quality now to last the life or a mortgage? I'm just offering on mans opinion.

Paint, over anything, is a fine way to make any surface look OK. You might consider doing the house in a stucco? My ex's house is about 2000 sq. ft. and the contractor we had build the house used a fiberglass based stucco, and elastomeric paint. The house is 14 years old and doing well, as it should for another number of years.
