there are 3 drains in the slab. i just need the hot/cold lines and drain pipes connected. the sink vent line would tie into washing machine so no cutting into rim joist to create a new hole. the bathroom is under the 2 main floor bathrooms and is next to the hot water tank. i already got a quote, but would like to know what other people have paid for same job, not answers like oh it shouldn't cost too much. too vague.

One great way to get pricing on projects like this is to submit your project inquiry into one of the companies that helps match you with qualified remodeling contractors.

For example, at http://www.remodelingintown.com/ you can submit your project info for free, and then lots of contractors can see the project. They have this technology that makes sure the contractors who can actually do your job can then contact you to give you an estimate. I think it’s pretty cool cuz you can save money once you get a bunch of quotes, ya know?

If the drains are big enough for a sink, toilet and bath, the rest of the install will be about the same as any other bathroom since supply lines do not run in the slab. If you only have one floor drain as in most basements, you will need to trench in new sewer drain connections, and that could be both expensive, and crack your foundation slab. If you have the head room, you might consider a raised floor.

I would say that it is unlikely to be cheap and more likely that it will not be possible. See if you can find the septic line down there. Usually in a basement it will run along an exterior wall at a pitch near the floor above you. If this is the case then any toilet is going to have to be pumped up into the septic line. Water has an unfortunate habit of going downhill. If by some miracle the septic line is along the floor, you may be able to tie into it through a cleanout, but you would still need to have the bathroom raised to create a pitch. It does not sound like a very quick or cheap project.

Labor for this kind of job shouldn't be much since you're already roughed in, and if you ahve your tub and sinks and the like, you're looking at about a day and half of work. Call a local lplumber for hourly charges - my husband is aplumber and they charge about $70 per hour in labor.
