I read recent in a newspaper article by Justin & Colin that a new product would cover woodchip wallpaper. Has anyone used this and was it worth it?

We are getting ready to put down new carpet. The dogs ruined our carpet, but now are house trained. Is there something we can put between the carpet and padding? Or is there special padding we can put down?In case of accidents. We are hoping with the new carpet they will no longer mess on it? What do you think?
Thank-You,
Vanora

We recently purchased an older home (built 1941) and there are several built in cabinets and a fireplace made of oak. The furniture came with the home, is antique and is the same color of the cabinets and the fireplace. It's an orange-ish looking wood and is hard to decorate around. I really do prefer the deeper, darker wood colors (so does my husband). Can I sand and restain the wood darker without worrying about ruining the wood? It's so old.

I am buying a flat and the seller wants to charge me for carpets (don't think I can call their bluff on this). Carpets were not in the place when they purcased [shared ownership]. I need a rough estimate for carpeting a 2 bed flat.

2 bed rooms approx 12x8ft
1 hall approx 3x18ft
1 lounge approx 12x18ft
Not the kitchen/bathroom

I need to know the re-carpeting costs before I offer somehting for the current carpet as I don't have much case available after the purcahse.

Any help with coming up with a rough cost for purchase and fitting (including underlay) would be really helpful.

I want it to look quite minimalist and modern. I can afford to pay £4000-£5000 and this needs to include fitting and appliances....help! I need tips!

I have a wall with a single picture on it that seems a bit small. Should I add more pictures? If so, how big and where? Or should I use a different type of decoration around this picture? I would love to hear your views. Here's a picture of the wall: http://i11.tinypic.com/2vcuizd.jpg.
