Lots of options-

Any adhesive you buy, make sure it is not a no-nome brand. 3M makes a great double sided tape- it is sold in rolls, usually blister packed on a card. The tape is grey and has a red peeloff plastic backing. It is what most automakers use to apply trim to the outside of cars.

Liquid nails is also great. But yet- why not just screw it into a stud?
