I want to paint my small bedroom medium grey and have the same color on the ceiling. Conventional wisdom says this will make the room smaller, go with a white ceiling. There is extremely little furniture in the room as the closets are large and contain, on shelves, all my clothing, etc. so I am prepared to take a chance. Should I? Thanks for your thoughts.

We are re-doing our kitchen and we need some to cover the wall by the stove so that heat does not warp it, and things don't splash up on it. We are trying not to spend a whole lot of money on it. I've looked all over the internet and all I can find is fancy, expensive backsplashes, which I don't want.

We bought -- and have lived with -- a dining table (and chairs) that is much too large for our dining area. Of course, we don't have problems unless we have guests and must use four chairs.

The table has a round, solid wood top that is anchored on a wrought iron/wood pedestal-type base. There is much metal scrollwork on the table base, as well as on the chairs, especially the legs. When we bought these furnishings for our new home, we didn't allow for the overhang of the breakfast bar or the space needed to open the french doors leading outside.

All serious answers will be greatly appreciated!

So my mother and I are trying to redo a basement and we thought it would be fun to close off part of the basement with shower curtains. Well here is my dilemma: The width of the area we want to close off is 13ft. we found crescent shaped shower curtains on the website listed below but they are for a 5ft. bath so if we bought 3 crescent shaped rods that would be 15ft am I right or does it change the length since there is a crescent shape in the rods? Help please! How many rods do i need and will 3 rods fit? I need to understand the math!?...Confused...

I have exposed brick walls on two sides of my lounge. The brick walls are around 4 ft wide facing each other at the end of the room while the rest of the wall is plastered and painted in off-white. There are full length glass windows between these two brick walls.

I am really looking for design ideas on what to do with these walls. The colour of the brick is not great right now and they look a bit dusty and old. Do I just plaster them and paint like the rest of the room or is it a good idea to paint directly on them.
If they are better off leaving exposed, then what can one do to make them look more appealing. Many thanks.
