I love how curtains really add to a room. They look great and can add so much life. I also like blinds for privacy so I have blinds on all my windows and curtains around them. It looks good and you can leave them open for light or close them for more privacy.

That depends on what kind of look you are going for in the room. If you are going for more of a contemporary look then I suggest blinds. Blinds give nice clean straight lines that go well with a contemporary or a retro 60's/70's look. There are some beautiful blinds out there besides the $3 ones that everyone buys.
If you are not going for a contemporary style or a retro 60's/70's style, I would suggest curtains. There are so many fabrics and ways that you can style them that they fit to most of the other decorating styles.

I have to disagree with the cat person's answer. Neither are good if you have a kitten! My kitten has climbed the curtains and has ruined the blinds too. Otherwise, I prefer blinds. Easier to clean, no dry cleaning bills for curtains, etc.

Curtains. I hate those stupid blinds. They never work right and I don't think they look as nice.

Depends on the general style of the house - if you have a modern house with wooden floors and lots of glass, then you'd want linen or beechwood blinds or something. If you have a Georgian house - curtains!

I have both, but I did spend more money on the nice wood blinds so they did look nicer on the outside as well on the inside. They last forever too.
