Cleaning & Laundry - October 2007

During the week, I work 60 hours so my place becomes a disaster because I don't have the time or energy to clean up. I just throw things on the couch when I come home and I go to bed because I have to be up in 5 hours. My place is not dirty, just really messy with tons of clothes, papers, a few dirty dishes and what ever is on my couch piled up. I know sitting on the computer is not helping matters. I know I need to clean but I'm also trying to put it off because I just don't know where to start.

tucking in the flat sheet, or do you just neatly layer the blankets on the bed?

We had accident that tap water from laudry room overflowed our entire unit and it also wet my downstair neighbour's one of the bed rooms. We felt very sorry so apart from telling him how sorry we are numerous times, we hired carpet cleaner/specialist to remove water, hired fan dryer for 3 days, bought him carpet spray in case if it smells, and also re-laid carpet to ensure everything is ok. The carpet specialist told me it's absolutely fine and nothing damaged. My neighbour today knocked our door and said he will bill me for his wage because he coudln't work for 1 and half day. whereas we only saw him had half day off, and when I ask him why is it 1 and half day, he can't even answer me.
Will you pay him his wage? He was repeatdly saying that he'd bill me whenever he saw me for last 5 days and he never even said a word to tell me how sorry he is for damage in our place. He could let the carpet dry alone and goes to work instead of having a day off valuntarily. What do you think?

I was trying to fix the screws of my sunglasses with glue when I spilled a drop on one of the glasses, I tried to clean it but spread it more. It's a very strong kinda glue and I don't wanna damage the glass, they're a souvenier from my girlfriend. Can I solve the glue using a kinda liquid or is there a way at all?

The only way I can get my kids' bathroom to smell ok is when I spray bleach on the bottom of the toilet where it meets the linoleum. There is no cauking there. The smell comes back in a few days. Will I have to rip up the lino and replace the sub-floor? Thanks for any help. I'm clueless in home maintenance.

Any products that will prevent the mold from growing? I already know how to get rid of it but it eventually keeps coming back in this one particular bathroom. Does opening the windows make it worse/help? Any tricks of the trade would be nice.

that itch in the night. I am looking for the lightweight, cool to the touch type of sheets, that never have balls on them and don't feel sticky like sateen. What kind of fabric combination am I looking for? And, don't say thread count. I know about thread count... have bought higher counts and still got balls on them. I am convinced it's a specific fabric content or combination of fabric that I'm after. Can anyone tell me that??

I'd like an upright that does carpet and/or hardwood as well. Hepa design is not necessary. I have had a hepa and a bagged upright. Neither is more preferable than the other except the hepa needs emptied WAY more often than does the bagged. So, give it to me..... what's YOUR best vac suggestion??

How can i make this sweater shrink???
Question Details: I bought this sweater that's suppose to be hand-washed in cold water.
It's a a size too big for me so i'll need to get it to shrink a little. I can't return/exchange it because it was a gift from someone.

Is there a way to make it shrink by just hand-washing them?? I can't put it in a dryer or else it'll get ruined! Please help!

We've found black mold under the base mouldings in our new house. What products should we use? Where can we buy them? (in-store only, we need to take care of this *FAST*)
Thank-you!

Is there a way to thicken clorox spray? basically I want to spray it on the tiles in the bathroom, but it runs down too fast, I figure if it runs slower, it would get through the dirt better. any ideas?
