I steam cleaned my carpets 2 days ago, and they still have some spots that aren't completely dry...it's been raining here, and very warm and humid, so I guess that's why. But now they're starting to smell bad...kind of a damp, musty smell. How can I get rid of this odor???? You can smell it through the whole house!!!

I just had a bridal shower and I live in a small apartment, so I'm trying to make room for all my new things. I have a limited amount of space for sheets as well. Anyone know of any tricks for folding fitted sheets? I re-folded all the sheets and they are neater than before but still thick and bulky! HELP!!

The counter top in my master bath is really nice, but it has a few burned marks wich I believe are from a cigarette,I recently moved to this house and alredy did a lot of work in the bath and since everything else is so nice(floors, tile, faucets, frame around the mirrors, light fixtures) I now can notice something I didn't before(the marks). Is there a way to fix them or do I have to replace it?Thanks for the tips!

I'm renting a house.... its an older house and was vacant for some time... so it smelled kind of funny from the beginning. I've cleaned the carpets and used fabreeze, candles, and that smelly carpet powder...

But there is one room that still smells funny. It's not necessarily a BAD smell (like mold or anything), but it just smells funny. Actually, it reminds me of old people (I know, it sounds wierd)... what else can I try to get rid of that smell in that room? Its the one room that is separated from the rest of the house (its the front den and is separated by the kitchen from the rest of the rooms in the house)

Any ideas?

You know, like lemon juice in your kettle, vinegar for glass etc, but something that is safe to use for cleaning yellow gold & / or white gold jewellery.

Hey it's me again, the bad smell is coming from the back room and it's a laundry/basement type room. The owner told us when we moved in that it leaked through the block walls when it rained really hard but he also put that stop leak paint on the floors and walls. Our sewer pipes run through this area and I know they aren't leaking but is there a way for the smells from the sewer to get back into the house and is there any way to stop this.I really like this house except for this smell ,what do I do except use all the suggestions you guys have given me,and I really liked the one about the dead body and I told my hubby that the former tenant must of disposed of a bad person back there but they did a heck of a job concealing the grave, but thanks guys .

the basement is an apt and the bedroom is the 'funkiest' part of the apt. I guess this is a 2 part question:

1. How can I get rid of or mask the smell?
2. How can I find the source of the smell?

Are there services out there that specialize in this sort of thing?

any help from you guys will be greatly appreciated!

I have a pair of white shoes that are a little dirty. They are not leather they are some kind of fabric and I want to clean them but I don't know how. I tried taking them to a cleaners but no cleaners can do it so I was thinking maybe I could wash them in the washing machine with laundry detergent and bleach to get them really white again then letting them air dry. Will this work or is putting them in the washing machine a bad idea? Will the bleach turn them yellow instead of white? What should I do to get them clean and really white again?

This smell used to be in clothes I put in plastic or cardboard boxes to store, now I am noticing it in most of the drawers and in the linen closet in the bathroom, and other places too. Should I change to open shelves? Or do you have other solutions? My house has too much moisture and I run a de-humiditfier part of the time, but still getting that problem in anything stored for more than a few weeks.
Thanks in advance!! LIve well and do good!

So this is probably the weirdest question I've asked...but...

My man appreciates a clean, tidy house and I like to do that for him, but one of the things that makes are place "chaotic" is his desk area. I'd like to clean the area, but I don't want to rearrange his stuff to the point where he can't find it....

... and normally I'd ask him, but he'll just say "oh don't worry about it."

So my question is this, as someone who does this professionally for other people...what do you do to make a desk area neat and clean without "disorganizing" the person's chaos... we're talking piles on the floor, around the desk, under, on... etc

HELP!? :)

I am a stay at home mom of 3 kids. My oldest is 4, and I'm pregnant with #4. I'm at the point in my pregnancy where if my kids would let me sleep all day long, I would. I'm tired, and unmotivated. I try to keep the house clean, but it seems like as soon as I finish one room, and move to the next, the first one is a disaster again. I have no clue as to solve this problem. I also would like someone to help me with a scedule that isn't too scary for me. I need a schedule that I can do. I've tried a schedule before, but couldn't stick to it, because it was waaay too specific. If someone out there knows what I'm talking about, please help me.
