The counter top in my master bath is really nice, but it has a few burned marks wich I believe are from a cigarette,I recently moved to this house and alredy did a lot of work in the bath and since everything else is so nice(floors, tile, faucets, frame around the mirrors, light fixtures) I now can notice something I didn't before(the marks). Is there a way to fix them or do I have to replace it?Thanks for the tips!

A minor burn on a laminate countertop can cause a slight discoloration or dull spot. Most minor burns can be rubbed away simply and easily. Apply toothpaste (plain white toothpaste, not gels work best) to a damp rag and work it into the burned area. Minor marks should come off with a little scrubbing and polishing, but if the burn is deep, you may have to take drastic measures to permanently get rid of the burn marks. By drastic, you may have to use a piece of sandpaper and a little bit of Soft Scrub with bleach.

You may want to tell us what material your counter top is made of, that might enable someone to give you a tip or two.

If they aren't really deep, you could just try to rub out the stains with some super fine steel wool (000 or finer)

What is your counter made of??? If it's the old formica top....the burns are there to stay.

I burnt my marble countertop too. I spent some time in front of the computer for useful tips and tricks, and I found this article here very useful: http://www.miconstruguia.com/en/how-to-remove-stains-from-marble/
I hope this works for you too.

There's not much you can do. I would suggest getting a little bit of paint and digsuising the area by lightly brushing over the discolored part. It won't look perfect but should make them less noticeable.
