I have a Dirt Devil I'm not very happy with them so I find myself shopping for a new vacuum.....can you please help me? I don't need a super huge one. I only have about 800-1000 sq feet of carpet but I need something easy to use on the stairs.
Thank You!!

I actually have only the stairs, hallway and 2 bedrooms with carpet. I don't want one that weighs 30lbs....thanks for all your input.

When you buy a home remember location, location, location.

When you buy a vacuum remember Dyson, Dyson, Dyson. I've had mine for about 5 years and no problems. Hands down Dyson wins!

i just want to say something about the dyson, then i can help you. DYSONS ARE HORRID. i don'e why anyone whould buy one! Once, i used one at a store. IT WHOULD NOT EVEN PICK UP PAPER! SMALL PEICES OF PAPER! anyways, don't buy a dyson.

Really, I ike the Oreck upright cassic. It cheep (for oreck) picks up pet hair "like-that" and really cleans the carpet well. The bags are HUGE and only need to be changed about once a month. They also DON"T lose suction. It's true!

Also, if you have the time to bid on things, get an old Kirby on ebay. I got one from that 80's for 50 bucks that cleans REALLY WELL. That's right, for $50!!!! just go on ebay.

I hope i helped. I am a vacuum coletor, so i know somethings!

Bag less need cleaning.

Bags cost money.

Shop for one with the features you want. A canister type may be easier to use on the stairs.

I presently have a Bissel upright bagless machine, and have yet to be disappointed in it. You'll probably want a hand-held vacuum for your stairs though, one with a long cord.

Good luck!
