Tide HE is for a high effiency machine - holds about 3 loads at a time. if you are using a machine at the college, it probably isn't one of these expensive machines. the soap is alot more expensive. (it is super concentrated - only for the high effiency machines. DO NOT BLEACH ANYTHING THAT IS NOT WHITE! if you are washing a load of white clothes, run your water first, then put your soap and bleach in the water, and then put the load of whites in the water. on your colored clothes, just pour the all on top of the clothes , you had that part right.
make sure you measure the bleach, it can yellow the whites after awhile, or if you use too much. unless you are really getting the whites very dirty, you don't have to use the bleach.
good luck and God Bless

With powders, pour it in then wait until the washer fills up, and I would wait until it agitates to dissolve the powder then add your clothes. I use liquid, because of that waiting thing, also, sometimes Tide doesn't dissolve in cool water. I don't like Tide. Woolite is gentle and expensive for regular cottons. All is good, in the Liquid form.....Like I said...sometimes the powders don't dissolve for me. Once, I had this gloppy mess on my work slacks from powdered detergent....Never again, with the liquid.

Most important --- use about 1/4 of what the package says to use---they packagers want you to use it fast, and sell more.
But use the very minimum, or it will never rinse out properly in the machine cycle.
Like the other answerer said, let the water pour into the machine for a few moments, then dump in the detergent and let it dissolve. Then shove in your clothes.

I think Tide HE is made for front loading machines, but you should still be able to use it. Put it in with the running water and then add your clothes.

ok, what individual hasn't accomplished this! LOL! Or a minimum of, what mom of three little ones below 5 hasn't accomplished this! ;) i've got accomplished this a minimum of as quickly as in present day memory so do no longer sense undesirable. i think of the previous recommendations are noticeably reliable. yet, i do no longer think of you need to use vinegar to bathe out the dispenser. you will ought to run it as quickly as returned on the rinse in uncomplicated terms cycle after your load has finished to rinse out the extra detergent, and you will upload your softener to this rinse cycle at present into the water after it has crammed the bathtub. while you're in a position, fill a tumbler of very heat faucet water and positioned it interior the softener dispenser and it might do a passable activity of rinsing the detergent out. no ought to waste an entire load of water just to rinse out the dispenser... till you had some laundry you needed washed with vinegar ???

With powders I usually pour them in first...start the water...let it fill at least half way....them swirl it around with my hand before adding the clothes.
Or you might want to buy another brand for use on your color clothes.

I start the washer, put the soap in, let it fill enough so the soap is dispersed and then add the clothes.
