I am a very clean person, however i live in a four-plex (upper level) and i have red ants in my bathroom and bedrooms. They aren't anywhere in my kitchen. I keep my bathroom clean and i have wiped it down with pine-sol and window cleaner. Still not working. Nothing is getting rid of these. I am 7 months pregnant, have a 5, 4, and 10 month old with two kitties. Are there any siggestions that i can do other than ant traps? I am afraid of poisoning. Someone mentioned Borax...is this true for working?

My dog just threw up on the carpet and my parents are coming home tonight, so i need to clean up the rather noticeable brown spot from the carpet. I checked my pantry, but I noticed that I was out of cleaning solution, so I need a home remedy to get it out. Thanks for any and all solutions that you can give me.

I have a microfiber couch that I want to protect from spills, but I'm not sure if Scotchguard is ok to use or not. The instructions on the can say not to use it on leather or suede... microfiber is similar to suede in texture, but is made of cloth, not leather. The instructions also say it won't alter the texture or feel of fabric. Do you think it will be ok because it is cloth, or not a good idea because it is similar to suede? Has anyone actually tried this with good results?

I found a herringbone blazer that I love--which I lost a few months ago! So it needs to be cleaned because it just looks dengy. It says to handwash cold, but I dont think that's going to make it look a whole lot better. It doesn't say to dry clean, but that seems more sensible to me. Since its tweed/herringbone it's hard to tell which parts need cleaned the most...etc.. Do you have any suggestions??? I want this to look new like when I bought it. It's just a year or two old, but I wore it a lot when I first got it and it's been under the stairs since then collecting dust. What should I do?? Any tips/suggestions?? It's wool blend. Thanks!

Ok. I have an idea but am not sure. Maybe someone with more knowledge can help me out with this. I refuse to hang dry laundry in the basement of my house in NY. However, my elderly that resides now at the house insists on doing her laundry and hanging it in my basement and the result is as follows (this is just what I suspect):

The garment is not soft
The garment smells like a wet dog
The basement feels damp and humid
The cloth it self feels like it can give you skin irritation
It smells as though it would be evident of fungus or bacterial growth (this is not proven)

Now as a person with allergies all my life and a very picky and cleanly way of doing things, is my speculations correct? Is this a safe and clean method. Growing up my mother hang dried outside and that was fine but in an old ancient basement of a early 1930's house?

Ok let me know some truth behind my speculations. I know I'm a neat freak but my nose and conscience tells me that her method is off

I have a purple, blue and white striped new bathing suit. I rinsed it off and hung to dry after the first time I wore it and the purple stripes bled into the white stripes leaving them stained light purple. First, is there anyway to remove the stains that have already happened and second, is there anyway to prevent it from futher bleeding? Keeping in mind it is 80% spandex and 20% nylon. Thank you!

Especially when I am canning something, the spills just burn on and I try to get them off without scratching the enamel. Impossible. Tryed the Easy-off spray, does not work well enough.
