I have a microfiber couch that I want to protect from spills, but I'm not sure if Scotchguard is ok to use or not. The instructions on the can say not to use it on leather or suede... microfiber is similar to suede in texture, but is made of cloth, not leather. The instructions also say it won't alter the texture or feel of fabric. Do you think it will be ok because it is cloth, or not a good idea because it is similar to suede? Has anyone actually tried this with good results?

I'm pretty sure it has not been "factory scotchgaurded"- we have spilled soda on it several times, and it soaked right in.

It'll be fine. Jennifer convertibles sells a lot of microfiber and i know that you can pay them to apply scotchguard. Microfiber is not leather or suede, it's polyester.

I would have it professionally done. It will be more even.

I'm surprised it wasn't already Scotchguarded. They pretty much do that to microfiber furniture. My parents new microfiber sofa was.

DuPont™ Teflon® Advanced is an carpet protector that uses DuPont technology to provide more repellency than any other carpet protector. It repels liquids, allowing spills to be removed before staining.
