If your Tee Shirts are made of cotton,
Dab small amounts of CLR (calcium, lime, rust remover) onto the rust stains.

Try it underneath the bottom hem first to be sure it won't harm the fabric.

Then toss the shirt into the washing machine
immediately after using the CLR.

Your washing machine lid offers suggestions. Try those. There is also a product put out by Rit Dye that gets rid of rust. Go look for it in the dye section of your grocery store.

Depends on the color of the t-shirts. For white try a bleach pen and rewash them.
