I'm moving to Northern Virginia in a week or two and will be looking at apartments. Besides actually spotting roaches, are there any warning signs there is a roach problem? Will my chances of having roaches be less if I live in a high-rise? How else, besides cleaning obviously, can I avoid roach infestation?

What is the best way to clean it? I've got a dog so it needs to be something thats gonna shift dirt, smell nice, and polish & sterilize.
I've been using a soapy solution made by pledge which is specially designed for use on wood and wood laminate floors but it leaves my floor all streaky. Has any one got any ideas?

I purchased a gently-used leather starter jacket from Craigslist. There are no stains, but it smells a little musty like it's been sitting in a closet. I'd like to deoderize / clean it. What is the cheapest, but best way. I considered putting it in the cleaners, but someone told me it would cost around $50, which is too much for my budget.

Any suggestions?

my son had crayons in his pockets, and I didn't check before I threw them in the washer, so now I have a load of clothes that has crayons all over them. Is there any way to get it out?

When I get my clothes out of the washer they smell good (like detergent). I immediately put them into my gas dryer, with a dryer sheet, and they come out smelling musty. Why? Can I clean it somehow? It doesn't look dirty inside.
It is a VERY old dryer, can that have something to do with it?

I spilled red punch on my kitchen counter and now it won't come off. I've scrubbed it numerous times but it just won't come off.

Some bleach spilled on a nylon leash, but we didn't realize it until the bleach had crystallized on the metal and a little bit on the cloth. I tried soaking it in warm water to see if it would melt off, but it didn't work. I don't really care what it looks like but would like to salvage the leash, as we have 3 dogs. Any way to get it off?

I really hate ironing...is there a way or secret to do laundry and having your clothes wrinkle free after drying them. (sorry no budget for drycleaners)

We just bought a house and I don't think the previous owners washed the windows in the last few years; there is a buildup that is like a gray or white-ish film. I've tried Windex and professional strength window cleaner and also CLR, nothing yet has worked. How do I wash it away?

Isn't the whole point of bleach that it bleaches out color? If it's "color safe", can it really be bleach?

We are in rented accomodation, and the floor has been laid in strips, but seems to consist of lots of small pieces of wood about 1 inch wide. Some stick residue has come off of one of our chairs, and I'm not too sure what to use to get it off without ruining the floor. We are in Switzerland, so if you know the product name in French it would help:-)

My aunt was driving with a gasoline can in the back of her van. A car ran a red light and she had to slam on her breaks which sent the gas can tumbling. They spilled about a cup of gas all over their carpet and are not sure how to get it out. They've poured baking soda on it to pull up some of the gas. They are worried about putting water on it (I'm not sure why.) Does someone have any idea how they would pull the gas out of their carpet and get rid of the smell?

Why do I feel so overwhelmed, most especially when it comes to dishes? I really would like to be able to grow out of it, but I can't seem to be able to do so. I have had this problem all my life and it has caused me a couple of marriages. To simply say "get off your butt and do the work" doesn't do it. I tell myself all the time to no avail. It is always "later", "tomorrow" and it never comes. I wish I could afford a maid, but unfortunately I don't earn enough to afford one.

How do I change? Please no flaming! I'm really desperate here.

Is it OK to wash light colored dirty cleaning rags (used to clean toilets, etc.) with other white colored clothes; like white shirts, underwear, etc.? I say it's OK because I add bleach to the wash and it helps save water & electricity by keeping the # of loads per day to a minimum. My spouse says it's unsanitary to wash these dirty cleaning rags w/ normal clothes and should be washed separately.
