Try Oxyclean in the shampooer. If that dont work, pet stores have things that remove all kinds of pet stains from carpet.

My poor Boo had a digestive nightmare or two after we removed a tumor and the medicine liquified everything in his system. What you need is called Nature's Miracle and it is available at the PetCo and some big box discounters. It has natural enzymes that break up animal waste of all kinds and will remove the stain. It is not toxic, is safe for the animal and does not mask odors, it destroys them. I would saturate the area, agitate with a brush, blot with a cloth and repeat until the stain disappears. I would always follow up with 20 mule team borax sprinkled over the area and vacuum up the excess when dry. The Nature's Miracle also has enzymes that discourage the use of the same area again for such purposes by the pet.

Resolve takes out everything. Pour some straight onto the spot and let it sit for about an hour. Then use a shampooer on it.

Our dog's always throwing up, we ended up getting a spot cleaner (a little vacuum that has brushes on the bottom). It's a wonderful instrument, and you'll find that you'll use it more than just this one time. Ours was only $30-35, I think. Good luck, that's no fun! I hope your dog's better too!

Why not give your dog a curry, then tie it to a broom handle, a-rse end down, and blend in the rest of the carpet using a sweep and spread action?
