How can Iget rid of the musty smell on some old record albums (you know, those big black disks that play music)? It's mainly the album covers which can't get wet or sit out in the sun too long. Thanks!

You need to destroy the cause of the odor, which is fungi. Any water-based solution will help generate more mold and possibly damage the jackets.Use a device that generates low levels of ozone with a decent amount of air movement (25-40 c.f.m.) to get rid of the odor and keep your jackets intact. These are often available used at reasonable prices. For new equipment and technology Ecoquest International is probably your best bet.

LOL @ those big black disks that play music. you mean some people dont know what those are anymore *gasps* Hmm well maybe you could put dryer sheets inbetween each record and let them sit like that for awhile?Or maybe wrap them in a bag with dryers sheets? Thats a tough one since you dont want to ruin the covers.
Oh how about getting a towl and spraying it down with febreeze and letting it dry mostly and then putting it in a plastic bag with the records. Im trying to think of ways to get a good smell without getting the covers damp.
Im interested to see what answers come up, gl!

try a damp towel or paper towel it cant be rubbed really hard but actually can handle more than a cd, dont go the opposite of the grooves you can clean them they arent like a cd, or dvd, just dont use any hot cleaning products,
