Keep things picked up and put away as soon as you are finished with it. I do a room or two every evening. Once you get into a pattern, it doesnt take long. One evening I might scrub down my bathroom and kitchen, another ill do my dining and living room, ect. But, picking up and cleaning up after yourselves is the main key.

Start this way: clean heavily over a weekend (or take some time off of work). That will give you a good clean pallet to work with. Then create a schedule of daily household tasks (example: Monday- vacuum and do laundry, Tuesday-dust and mop floors, etc.) Also, pick up everything that has been left out before you go to bed. It really makes it a lot easier. Also, if you do scheduled household chores during the week, it frees up your time on the weekends.

Agree with both above, but what is your husband doing in this? Do you work or stay home all day? Does he help any? My husband and I both work and play -- and clean!! He cooks and I wash up and vice versa. He does laundry and I fold. He vacuums and I do bathrooms. Marriage is share & share. I notice you didn't mention any kids, but if there are, same thing there -- get them into the act as well.

And the dirtiest word when it comes to cleaning? Procrastination!!

well you seem like the kinda lady who shouldn't have alot of extra stuff just laying around causing clutter , so i suggest the stuff you really don't need or use get rid of , then take it from there by having a certain place where everything always goes and make sure you always put it back in its proper place and that should do the trick mam

Put away anything you use as soon as you're finished with it.
I put things on the stairs that go up and each time someone goes upstairs they carry it with them and put it in the proper place.
