However, I noticed that now the 3 switch plate in my living room no longer works correctly. The first two work..the ceiling fan and chandelier go on, but the switch that made the lamp go on no longer works. In fact, I put new illuminated switches in and the first two lite up, but the third one doesn't. What did I do wrong?

I have a set of sliding mirrored closet doors which I need to install on a concrete floor. I cannot find the installation instructions, but I recall there was something in them about putting down a thin piece of wood under the lower track so that the carpet could go under the track (the lower track carries the weight because they are mirrored doors).

Has anyone done this or have any recommendations how to do it?

Thanks,
AJ

Please help solve a disagreement. I think the tiling should be done after the cabinets are hung. My husband thinks the cabinets should hang over top of the first row of tile. It is my opinion that my cabinet installers will not be happy if he does this. Anyone out there with the answer?

I inheirited vintage Noritake and there is no pattern name on it, but I know it's from the later half of the 1940's. And it has gold trim w/ black detail, like greek key almost, and the china is two-tone cream and white.
I went to replacement.com, but can't go thru all those patterns and some didn't even have pics.
By the way there is a large "M" on the bottom.
Any suggestions?

Our yard is beginning to be invaded by spiders & I can't stand it! Don't ask me what kind but there are big & small ones. The big spiders spin humongous webs near my front porch...So we have to be careful not to walk into it at night! It's horrible!!! Are there any good home remedies for killing spiders?

My husband and I are remodeling. We are taking down a wall between our living room and office to make one big living room. To have a good furniture layout, we will have to eliminate the current door into the office area. I would like to still have a doorway to access this area for better traffic flow, but the only space available for a new doorway is about 27" wide. Is that too narrow?

I did something really stupid last night. I was trying to fix something in a light bulb socket, but I forgot to turn off the power first. Next thing I knew, pow! Room went dark! I checked all circuit breakers and even reset them. Final result is that one electrical socket in my room (the room where I was messing with the light) is completely dead. But the room next to it has 3 outlets, and they are all dead as well. Is this something I can fix by myself? I am soooo stupid!

We're in the process of installing a dishwasher. We've got everything except the drain line hooked up. Their was a prexisting water line & electrical outlet. The pipes were replaced before we bought the house so no pre-existing drain or garbage disposal.

We bought a pipe from home depot that will has a nipple that we can attach the drain to.

The piece is 1 1/2" and we need to outfit it onto 2" black pvc pipes. There is no room between the p-trap and the sink on the right. No room to drop the p-trap closer to the floor.

The sink on the left has an 90 degree elbow pipe that fits onto the long part of a T pipe from the right sink. Below the T pipe is the P-trap. We're attempting to add the piece we've purchased into the long area of the T pipe. We're having trouble finding couplers that are 1 1/2" to 2".

Should we go about installing this piece another way? Any suggestions? We're stumped. We really do not want to install a garbage disposal, or call a plumber.

Thanks!

Hi everyone!!! I have a home daycare and trying to organize it, especially for the holidays. What I collect most are children's books. I have planned to buy plastic storage bins and put a few mothballs inside and store books in these that pertain to the holiday and montly. Oh yeah and I am storing them outside. The reason for the mothballs is becasue someone told me that would keep insects out. Not sure if that is true. Is this a good idea or do anyone have any other suggestions.

im planning on building a new home and i like to do things a bit difrent. insted of doing a standard two storie home i was thinking is it posable to have 2 levels of basement? i was thinking of having the first portion only say half baired so there would still be windows, if higher then normal. but then have another level of basment below that. the property im going to be building on is well above the water table and has a good slope for water run off so im not vary conserned about flooding. is there anything else i should be conserned about?
