There is a very thin thight weave carpet in a bedroom.,this carpet is sitting on old uneven floorboards. the carpet has leveled out the surface but we want to replace the carpt now.I have some laminate leftover from a job I did before and was wondering if this "thin weave carpet " would act as an underlay. I have gotten different opinions from different people. Laminate will be a cleaner option for this small room just curious as to what beople think ?

There is Wenger and Victorinox. As I understand it, they are completely independent manufacturers of the same brand.

Can they really be the same brand?

Are there any other brand-name products of any kind with different, competing manufacturers?

I'd like to build my own simple1500sq ft rambler style house, doing most of the construction myself, but hiring sub contractors for the foundation, and plumbing. Anyone know about how much it would cost?

Sprinkler pipe burst and the contractor made a huge mess tearing out dead shrubs. The landscaping rocks have been mixed in with the soil and weed control fabric.

I have done a little rudimentary hand sewing way back in, 6th grade, even less on a machine. and I was bad at it. Except for hand sewing, my teacher once noted I had really nice stitches. Not that that means much.

Anyhow, now I'm in my 20s and REALLY want to learn to sew. I have looked up some sewing classes, but they usually specify that you own a PORTABLE sewing machine. I have no machine AT ALL, I did do a search and was wondering what people thought of this one. I am no Hello Kitty fan (so I'm not looking at this because I think it's "cute" - not at all.) BUT it seems efficient enough.

Otherwise I was going to go for a Singer or Janome model. I need something small and simple that will take me to and from class. However, I don't want to sacrifice what I need to learn for a "portable" ....So what do sewers think of this machine?

My goal would be to be able to design tops and things or home design, if possible.

Ok, the one in question is on a 15 amp fuse

I have a few other ceiling lights hooked up to the panel.

a) If I have all the lights on the 15 amp fuse turned on, is there some instrument that I can buy that will show how many amps are currently being drawn?

b) If yes to a) , how much does a good(top of the line) one go for.

c) If yes to a) , where should I connect this tool to meausure properly.

thanks

I bought some Datura pods (she said they were moonflowers, they're not, they're moon lillies) last weekend. They are still green and I'm not quite sure what to do with them. How do I store them until Spring? Can I start them early? I live in Kansas so we won't hit frost until November or so. Any help gardeners?

I am *really* annoyed when the bed sheets don't cover the box spring on a bed, and I don't have time to do a custom bed ruffle. We had to put a queen bed with box spring in our kids' room with no bed frame (for now) - but I know the sheets will look a little funny if the bed isn't high enough, and a bed ruffle might be too long. If I don't use one, I risk the comforter not being long enough and exposing the box spring.

Any ideas for my situation?

My girlfriend saw pine needles being used as mulch in Florida last winter around native plants and wants it around her sumac bushes. I notice hardly anything grows under a pine tree because the needles are so acidic. I'm allergic to sumac, so piled the needles on high around them- she's happy and I might be happy if they die.

I recently bought a blanket for my bed and noticed when I got home the package said "do not use fabric softener" but doesn't say why not, I don't use fabric softener anyway but was wondering why it might harm the blanket.
