Okay, I know that I have to change the batteries, but I don't have any, right now, at my apartment.

I'm new to this stuff, and I'm wondering if there's any way I can stop it from beeping... other than replacing the batteries! :P I don't have my car today so I can't go buy those damn things GAH!

The fire alarm only works when someone is there to hear it. When you leave, take out the old battery and put it in your pocket. When you drive by a store, go and buy a new one. When you get home, install the new battery and voila.

Just remove the battery!! A long as it's not hard wired into the house electrical system, the removal of the battery will stop the beeping! pain the rump, ain't it???

BUT..First chance you get, replace the battery!!!

It should have a button you press to turn it off, if it doesn't, then slide it side ways to remove it from it's mount and contact. Don't forget to get batteries for it though! It could mean the difference between life and death if you had a fire! Have a great day hon.

Just take the old batteries out. It will stop beeping, but it will also stop working. So, no burning candles or smoking in bed tonight.

There is a button to push to quiet it, but you will probably have to take the battery out. Don't forget the new battery, though!

Short of diconnecting it (which you really shouldn't do), no. Why don't you ask a neighbour if they've some spare batteries?
