My Fiance and I are getting married at the end of this year, a private ceremony and we're having our traditional reception party 2 months after we get married... but him and I were thinking of having a house warming first... The thing is we are moving into a nice cozy apartment and I wanted to know is it ok to have an apartment warming???? give me some ideas for the party or ur input...

Appreciate it thanks

It would be redundant to have both. A housewarming party is usually for an established couple moving into a new home (not necessarily a house). If asked to attend (and bring gifts to) 2 parties for a couple's "beginnings" so close together, many of your guests will feel that it is too much.

I'd skip the housewarming, and have the reception.

I'd have a housewarming-right now you'll need things after you've been married and waited 2 months it'll be too late to get any new things for the apt. Have someone else throw you the housewarming party if you feel like it'd be too much to ask of people. I mean if you're not demanding a new bedroom set and a stove I wouldn't think that people would get too upset about going to 2 events that are almost 1/2 a year apart. Besides then you can get different gifts at your reception if you still need stuff or you can get more fun things like lingerie instead of a toaster ;)
