We're in the process of installing a dishwasher. We've got everything except the drain line hooked up. Their was a prexisting water line & electrical outlet. The pipes were replaced before we bought the house so no pre-existing drain or garbage disposal.

We bought a pipe from home depot that will has a nipple that we can attach the drain to.

The piece is 1 1/2" and we need to outfit it onto 2" black pvc pipes. There is no room between the p-trap and the sink on the right. No room to drop the p-trap closer to the floor.

The sink on the left has an 90 degree elbow pipe that fits onto the long part of a T pipe from the right sink. Below the T pipe is the P-trap. We're attempting to add the piece we've purchased into the long area of the T pipe. We're having trouble finding couplers that are 1 1/2" to 2".

Should we go about installing this piece another way? Any suggestions? We're stumped. We really do not want to install a garbage disposal, or call a plumber.

Thanks!

the real problem today is any contractor thinking he can do plumbing NEVER tie anything in after the trap it will let sewer gases back in your house
you need to tie your dishwasher in right above the tee you talked about the piece you need will look just like the one that is there now except it will have a 3/4" pipe sticking out on the side of it. any problems call me on my office cell phone

Certainly the 2 inch Black is a normal sink drain size. The usual case for attaching Dishwasher is a "Y" connector cut into the existing drain beyond the "P" trap of the sink. If you have no means by which to connect AFTER the P; then you may get back up into the sink when the dishwasher drains?

I've used screw type pipe clamps and soft side Vinyl connector nipples, in many cases

You can purchase a reduction joint. connector at a Lowes or HD, and while there use their supplies to judge fit in the various pipe sizes. In fact any decent supplier should advise you and sell you just what you need without pushing a Plumbing bill on you.

Still amazed at the lack of standardization in plumbing...sigh

Paradise has it correct...
If you had a garbage disposal mounted below the sink they have a 3/4 " fitting built in just for this connection. but...
You need to replace the current drop pipe. The new one will have a 3/4" pipe sticking out on the side of it.

It would be easier to go straight through the wall and put the pipe to a drain
