There are no floors on top the bedroom and bathroom I am framing in, there is the existing roof of the garage (that's staying put) So really, no one will be walking on top. However, it might be used as storage. So, can I use 2 x 4's or should I use 2 x 6's? Thanks

Whenever I patch drywall with tape and mud. It leaves a smooth spot. The more I sand, the smoother it gets. But if I don't sand down, there is a blob. How do you get the patch to match the texture of the drywall?

I recovered gold from fingers and cps. I used a mild nitric acid. I melted the gold using a gold flux and mapp torch. My question is what color should the buttons be? I have like a greyish type of color and under the grey there seems to be a hint of a golden type color. How can I get the gold to shine like the ones I see in pictures online? Did I do something wrong? Or do I need to clean and polish the buttons and if so how? Thanks!

Its a small warehouse only about 1400 square feet. We had a forklift leak and the floor is now a mess. The fluid was cleaned up with the absorb sand. But now the floor is a tint of yellow and has scuff marks all over from the forklift wheels and crates and such. What would be the best way to clean it up without renting a large machine. Is it possible? The floor has a sealer on it as well. Can we clean it without removing the sealer.

Do you think it would be economical for me to buy a goat so I won't need to mow my lawn so often? I'm a single mother and I really don't have the time or the strength. I saw 2 in the classifieds this weekend so I know it's possible.

It's better for the environment, and the goat's poop could act as fertilizer. I could name him "Shecky", and charge kids $5/pop to pet him.

When you get word that last-minute guests are on their way to your home, you can probably think of a dozen or more things you need to do: fix your appearance, clean your home, prepare food and drinks. What do you think is the most important thing to do before visitors arrive to make them feel welcome?

I have some opaque glass that is about 1/4 inch thick. I want to make a clean cut at right angles to the length of the glass. I've used glass cutters to make stained glass items and to cut window glass, but have never tried to cut glass this thick. Is there a different method for glass of this thickness? Also, it has a pattern of some type on one side of it.

I'm completely lost on this one. I've been leaning to a cream/beige colored curtain, something in a traditional style. Any ideas or help? Will a natural colored curtain look bad on a stark white wall? I can't paint in my apartment. Thank you!

My lava lamp has been in storage for 3 or 4 years. It ended up laying on its side most of the time and may have been frozen at 1 point. There is also a bit of oily liquid around the cap. The water is cloudy and the lava stuff just looks like a big motionless wad sittin at the top. Is it possible for me to make the water clear again or get the lava movin like it should?

At first, I was really happy to learn that my daughter's class uses dry-erase boards to save paper. Now, I'm not so happy. They're saving trees and money, but I'm losing clothes that I really can't afford to replace (3 pairs of pants so far). She tries to be careful, but she's only 6. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

I've tried mineral spirits - with a lot of rubbing the glue comes off, but the odors are horrible. I have an adhesive remover -although it doesn't damage the finish, you have to leave it sit for 30 minutes and again the smell is unbearable.
Anything I can use that WON'T make me feel sick and won't damage the floors?
