I recovered gold from fingers and cps. I used a mild nitric acid. I melted the gold using a gold flux and mapp torch. My question is what color should the buttons be? I have like a greyish type of color and under the grey there seems to be a hint of a golden type color. How can I get the gold to shine like the ones I see in pictures online? Did I do something wrong? Or do I need to clean and polish the buttons and if so how? Thanks!

Muriatic acid will work but don't drop them into it. Use a brush and paint them with the acid. make sure you wear gloves for this as the acid will eat your hands. wash the buttons after with water and mild dish soap then polish with jewelry cleaner for a brilliant shine.
