My spouse and I are in contact with some potential housecleaners for our 2 bd 1 ba house.

How do we decide which one to choose?

What kinds of questions should we ask in the first phone conversation?

How much tidying up should we do before each visit? We're fairly messy-will this make their job less efficient?

Are there certain groundrules that we'll need to establish right from the start?

Thanks for your input!

We have air bubbles coming from one of the toilets. They will not flush. When we run the washing machine, it floods the car port and backs up into the tub. We live in the city limits. The city has come out to check their lines and they said it is our problem. We had a plumber come look at it and he said that they may have to dig up the pipes in our yard. A friend of mine who lives in the area said they had the same thing happen. It turned out they had a septic tank instead of city sewer. My question is..we were told by the realator and the home owners that the home is on city sewer. If we find out that we indeed have a septic tank instead ( the whole while everyone in that house is paying taxes for city sewer) what legal action do we have? Will we be responsible for it? Has anyone ever experianced this before?

I have a 100 year old colonial. we are renovating the exterior and it needs a major makeover. It's a solid brick house. Mortar needs to be repointed in some areas. It unfortunately has at least 5 old layers of paint that are flaking. What is the best way to revive the outside? Is possible to restore down to the original finish by sandblasting? or Would it be better just to powerwash and repaint? Also is it possible to cover a brick exterior with a textured surface. I saw a house that had a beautiful textured exterior that almost looked like it was sprayed on (looked very thick with big grains or pieces in the textures).
thanks,
Justin

right by my house. I was wondering what the most effective way would be to get rid of them. They fly in and out all day... there are tons and tons of them! Spray may work, but are there other solutions? Thanks for the help in advance!

i have a gas water heater and it seems like when i turn on the cold water it is warm or it's cold at first and then gets kind of warm. when i want warm water, it seems to get really hot. i've heard that when the water heater is getting ready to go out, it gets extremely hot. is this true or is it a myth?

I live in a third floor apartment, I get lot of sun right into my living room through the large sliding doors even with the vertical blinds closed. Is there any cheeper way to sun-proof the sliding doors with out causing too much damage to the glass? I live in an apartment, so this has to be something I should be able to undo.

One way to get thick curtains to keep the sun out. Are there any tinted sheets or something which I can put on the glass?

I pulled the cord to start up my lawn mower and i accidentally let go. The cord shot all the way back to to motor. Now I try to the cord and it stops after a couple inches.

I am looking for hot pink bedding. Not to expensive. Preferbably a pattern. But if there is a neat solid one I'll take it. And I can't buy it until my brother moves out so that will probably be in 1-2 months. I've tried pbteen, walmart, kmart, sears, overstock, ikea, urbanoutfitters, target, delias, lnt, bedbathandbeyond, frankies, teen themes, and a few more. And I'm going to be 16 this year so nothing childish.

This is my first year teaching 5th grade and...first year teaching EVER period. Walking into my "blank slate" room for the first time was very overwhelming. I have 3 large bulletin boards, one about half the size, and bulletin board "borders" on top of each. Yes, a lot to work with. So far, the room is looking "alright" since I've covered about half of them. Maybe it's just my confidence right now, but I feel like it doens't look "right." I guess my big concern is...how can I look at all of these colors and borders and feel like they "match" or mesh? I Feel like I have a green board here with seasonal trim, on top of that a yellow border with math word problem trim; just really all over the place!! Is this normal, though? And YES, i Know that this will not really matter because there are more important things, but I want the kids to walk in teh first day and be completely in love with the room and feel comfortable!! HELP!!!! I will take suggestions (esp. with colors!).
