Keep detailed and accurate records of all you do. Write down all the names of EVERYONE who helps you. Take lots of pictures, or assign someone else to take the photos.

Remember gloves, and if working with power tools observe and enforce all safety rules, and remember to provide eye and ear protection.

Have a first aid kit and lots of water on site.

Do as little of the actual project as possible, you are there to direct others to perform the tasks. Anyone can build a planter box, only a LEADER can direct others to build one. When in charge, TAKE CHARGE. Give people direct tasks, thank them often, and compliment them on their work. If you need to make corrections, do it in a kind tone, and quietly to that person, rather than to the group.

After the project is done, thank those who assisted in person and in writing. Include their names on the paperwork you submit to national.
