i'm thinking of using poplar trees to make a headboard for my bed.... how should i treat the branches befor i use them?? should i strip the bark?? ANYONE??

Hopefully your branches dry out already, if not your gonna have to let them sit for several months in a dry area. Don't use any wood if it isn't seasoned first. Don't remove the bark if that's the finish that your looking for. Once you assemble the head board, apply varnish to seal the wood, makes dusting and cleaning easier.

You don't have to strip the bark if you don't want to. Just be sure to let the trees dry very well so you won't have so much shrinkage. Nothing like building something tight, then 4 months down the road it wobbles worse than a rickety bridge!!

if you don't strip the bark off the wood will rot,
[it will come off when the wood drys any way]
it holds moisture in, strip the bark, let it dry, in the sun , then seal it with a good sealer and then seal any cuts you make, on it,

strip the bark. steam the wood or soak it in water to make it plyable
