It is still working fine, but every once in a while we can hear water dripping and occasionally ice shoots out of the front of it. What should we do?

We recently moved into a house that has an inground swimming pool. The pool hasn't been used in about 2 years. We drained the pool and were looking to re-open it with new water and equipment. We don't really know anything about pools. The pool is about 12 ft. deep at the deep end. About how much do you think it would cost to open this pool for the remainder of the season. And is it worth it.

I am on a well and septic system. Something about the water causes rapid degradation of the sacrificial rod. As it disintigrates, it creates a bad odor and taste. Removing the rod cures the taste but withiut the rod the life of the water heater can be substantially reduced. A stainless steel tank would possibly eliminate the problem. Glasslined steel always fails eventually. Sometimes in less than two years.
Is ther a cost effective cure for the problem? What causes it?
Water analisys shown no potential health problems from anything in my well water.

I have the hardest time throwing out things. My mother and father have imbedded into my head not to waste. I have books, cds, computer stuff, clothes. Until recently it didn't bother me until I got married. I want an apartment that looks like the NYC apartments in Metropolitan Home, but on a low budget. What can i do to prioritize?

The water in one of our bathrooms comes out of faucet smelling like mildew and makes my washclothes smell moldy after they dry.

Does anyone know what's causing this? Its not every faucet in the house.

I have a friend who has been doing this for at least 10 years but I moved away and am just curio on the safety of this...Can you can tomatoes by boiling the juice, washing (using vinger) & heating the jars in the dishwasher, boiling the lids, then when the tomato juice has boiled-about 15 minutes- she takes out the jars, adds the tomatoe juice, puts on a lid, screws on a band- then turns them upside down for 24 hrs. - they always seal for her- seems easy and watching her looks easy...But is there a danger in this? I would like to know......

I live in apartment so I have to do my laundry. Every weekend, I am tired of arguing with my mother about washing machine control. She insists that we must press both Press button and Color button. And, she never listens when I say that is not possible because washing machine cannot work for two functions. What should I do?

It is a very new toilet, and the water level in the bowl itself has always been fine. But lately when I flush the toilet the bowl will fill up just fine, but within a few minutes half of the water is gone (I can actually see the water geting lower) The Tank is fine. Its when the tank shuts off is when i see the water in the bowl drop.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I live on a dirt road therefore I bring a lot of sand in my garage from my tires. Needless to say, the sand builds up fast.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks that I can do in my garage to minimize the sandy floors? I know I could simply sweep every day, but what do others do who live on a dirt road? Maybe there is something that I can park on, but I haven't seen anything yet.

Ideas are appreciated!

Thank

Several months ago the news of the colony colapse came out and noted that several crops were in danger . (due to lack of pollination)
But no news since then !
Anyone know the current status of the crops ?
(LIke the almonds etc )
Also noticed price drops in honey . . . Does that mean there was a turnaround in hive population ?

Thanx for any info . . . Hey , I just noticed there is NO ag / country catagory on Yahoo Q&A ! Only urban catagories !
What is up with that ? (No legit cat for this Q !)

I have two nosy dogs who will create havoc in our new neighborhood if we let them look out the front window (barking at passersby, etc.)

I really need cool ideas for an inexpensive but esthetically pleasing (from inside and outside) "thing" that would cover about 12" (vertical) of the bottom portion of the window. It would need to be easily removable (so we can open the window, etc.)

The simplest thing would be construction paper, but that would look tacky. The next simplest thing would be to put a big plant out there, but they'll be able to see through the leaves.

Thanks in advance to all you creatively clever DIY's !

The walls are currently white. There's not a whole lot of light in the room (its a finished basement with two large windows, located beneathe our deck). The rest of my house is neutral, greens, beiges, and creams. I'd like to decorate the playroom so that it appeals to both boys and girls. Should I be looking into paint shades that are warm or cool?

In our backyard there are some green berries. But we have no idea if they are poisonous or not. They are small about the size of a thumb nail and almost look like they are in clusters.
Any Info?

I recently got a hanging strawberry plant from a greenhouse that I have hanging on my front porch. I constantly see big flies (my boyfriend says theyre horseflies) and small fruit flies on it constantly. What is a good way to get rid of this problem without having to restort to a store-bought pesticide?
