Two of the Fluorescent Fixtures (10 years old) in my home does not start to glow after 6 pm, this is due to two industrial transformers placed near my home and the other fixtures in my home is working fine. Is there any booster to start those fixtures?

The one which is not working is brand new Crompton fixture, the complete set is new, we have 6 fixtures in our house and all working fine except these two, that too the problem occurs only after 5 or 6 pm and the fixtures work normally after 11 pm

if it is a trigger start ballast it will need to be grounded in order to work properly. if the fixture has a good ground and the lamps are not turning black on the ends then i would say its the ballast.

Not sure about your explanation, Naveen: you only have 2 fluorescent fixtures, and they don't work after 6pm? or you have other fluorescent fixtures that do work? In any event, replace the bulbs first (make sure the switch is OFF first!!), but most likely the ballasts in those 2 fixtures are fried. A new ballast costs as much or more than a new fixture, so it's probably worth replacing the fixtures. If they are the standard 48" fixtures, I prefer using the Phillips 'Alto' tubes with the green end-caps. and again, make sure the power to the fixture is OFF when doing wiring or replacing the bulbs; and be careful about inserting the ends of the bulbs correctly, it's easy to do it wrong and not know it (other than that the lights don't work! :] ). P.S. some older fixtures have a little silver 'starter' near one end of the fixture, those can be replaced.

I would replace the bulbs with new ones, and if you still have problems, then replace the ballast transformer. That should take care of your problem.

I have worked in industry for many years, we use fluorescent lights in switch gear rooms with high voltage transformers right below them, so I don't think they are causing you any trouble.

Change the ballasts.

Weird problem and explaination. '

I would contact the company that installed the transformers. If they did something to effect your home then they should be liable.
