I need some help and advice.
Our garden is approximatley 30 feet long and 20 feet wide, with a gentle slope downwards away from the house. Unfortunatley, the soil is clay and is holding onto the water like a sponge. Water isn't draining well at the bottom of the garden due to their being gravel boards along the boundary fence, so ends up pooling on the surface when it rains heavily.
I have been told I would need to make a soakaway and would ideally like to do this as cheaply as possible. Some people have advised me to dig a deep hole near the bottom of the garden and fill with gravel etc. Other people have advised me to dig a 1ft deep trench parallel to the bottom fence so that all the water from the garden flows down due to gravity and stops in the trench.
Yet more people have said I need to dig multiple drainage channels leading to a deep hole, again filled with stones etc.
Ideally I would like to get rid of all the clay, but that currently isn't an option.
Help!

Ok. I changed the bulbs, didn't help. One tube flickers about half lit, the other not at all. I was told the problem is probably the ballast. I'd prefer to fix it myself rather than whine to some man to feel sorry for me. Thanks.

I'm on my second load of baby clothes in the washing machine, and washed first load twice with hot water and baby detergent also fabric softener. The clothes I bought from a smoking household and did not give it much thought at the time and they were cheap. Will washing twice in hot water be enough to rid the clothes of the smoke smell?
Is there any better way to do this? Thanks.

How long is a typical 3 seater sofa in Asia? I was told it is 7 foot but, there are some 3 seaters that are shorter.

Okay, so my AC went out yesterday. I called a handyman today and he supposedly fixed it. I know he changed the connector for the AC and re-filled the freeon. The unit is about 8 years old.

In any case, the temperature was in triple digits all day today in Dallas, and is 91 degrees right now. My thermostat is set at 72 degrees (i have a digital one so I know exactly what temp to set it to).

However, the temperature keeps hovering around 76-75 degrees. The unit has been running for about 12 hours now, and it still hasn't cooled down to 72 degrees. Like I said, the temp right now is 92 degrees outside. Do you think it's a problem with my unit or is this expected?

I have this weird problem in my apartment in which they come in and are dead hours later. The weird thing is I can't get rid of them and they leave me alone no matter what I do to them. I left on a trip for a week and 20 or so were dead on the sill of my balconey.

Someone suggested vinegar but that didn't work. Dishwashing liquid can't get it out either. I'm afraid to try commercial bleach for health safety concerns

My apartment managers and staff are all terribly rude. Every time I've had any sort of problem, it's been a serious hassle to deal with.

I've seen two baby roaches, on tonight and one yesterday night. It suddenly got super hot (105 degrees) and dry, so I thought maybe they just wandered in. If that's the case, i don't want to deal with the apartment people.

If that means there's some sort of infestation (I dunno, my apartment is pretty darn clean, but maybe it's a neighbor) I need to go through my apartment to get an exterminator.

What do you think?

I have a plant with purple leaves and purple roots. New leaves that grow are green and turn purple within a day or so. It seems like it can't be overwatered and loves the hot weather. Since the extremely hot weather has kicked in, the plant seems to flourish. It also blooms bright pink tubular flowers that only last for 1 day, but it takes several weeks for the buds to grow. I think the plan looks very unusual and has been very easy to grow. I really want to know what this plant is. I have search the internet and there are several plants w/ purple leaves and pink flowers but they are not my plant. Please help!!!!

The tractor is a 110 TLB. It has a backhoe attachment on the back. We are planning on doing all kinds of work such as land clearing, stump removal, leveling, bushhogging, septic tanks, etc. We don't want our names in the title, but we do live in Northern Arkansas in the Ozarks. I've seen alot of similar services with Tractor and Backhoe Services in the title. Is this good or does something else sound better. Any help would be great.

I bought a lava lamp two days ago, and at that time it was working fine. But today, i turned on the lamp and waited for the "lava" to heat up and start floating. however, within 10 minutes, the "lava" part just detached from bottom of the lamp and the whole thing was like solid wax and not liquid. Is this normal or is there a problem?
