Why do Bees die so quickley?

I have this weird problem in my apartment in which they come in and are dead hours later. The weird thing is I can't get rid of them and they leave me alone no matter what I do to them. I left on a trip for a week and 20 or so were dead on the sill of my balconey.

It sounds like they are in the walls. Put your ear to the wall to hear humming. It can get much worse.
