how do i clean a window unit air conditioner and how did i find the btu info on the ac if the words on the?

the unit have faded off ,its an old unit,but it still works fine,i need to replace the front of the ac and but need to find the serial number and its not there any more

Just take it out from window. first use blower, then cover electrical components like capacitors, wires etc. with plastic and wash it with pipe. You can use caustic soda, but make sure to wash it quickly and with pleanty of water other wise it will couse corrision.
for BTU use amps meter, If ur unit is consuming approximatly 4000 watts then it is 18000 BTU, (1.5 ton). If less then 4000 watts then it will be 12000BTU (1 ton)
