I just bought a house that has an old deck that has fallen into disrepair. I need to plan to work on it this fall or next spring to have something ready for prime grilling season next year and wondering if I should build a deck or patio if I am considering longterm (5-10 years out) to put in a screened in porch.

We live in a 3 story condo that has radiant heat in the celings. This past winter, even with the thermostat turned up to over 80degrees on teh 1st floor, the temperature wouldnt get above 67. The third floor was the only room which ever felt warm. Also our electric bills were over $400 a month!!
We also have central air conditioning and would like to find out more about adding onto it so it can also heat. I think it would be more efficent for our condo.
Can someone tell me if this is possible and estimated costs?
I assume I would have to contact an HVAC professional.
All of the duct work is done, so i think its just a matter of installing a heating element?

Thanks!!

I just bought a big crepe myrtle and california pepper tree in a 15 Gallon bucket from a local grower, the trees are very big , they are like 2.5" trunk diameter. when i bought the trees, the guy had to cut off a couple big roots from the tree that were growing out of the bucket to the ground. he specifically told me there is no warranty on the tree becos of that reason, at that time, the big trees were already on the truck so i just took them home. a week has gone by, now both the tree seems to be dying, the leaves look curly and dry and they are losing a lot of leaves. i have no idea wether are they dying or in shock? is it worth transplanting them to the ground? please advice.Thank you! P/S: i had learned my lesson and think i'm being punished for being greedy on getting a big tree out of a small 15 gal. :~((

My fam & I just moved into a new home, & I gave the lawn a very much needed mow. I watered the lawn, & as I watered I talked to my granny on the phone, & I could have sworn I saw a snake tail on the other side of the tree I was watering. I went to the other side of the tree & saw a really long yellow snake w/ black spots. I ran like a beheaded chicken screamed like a little girl, nearly breaking my granny's ear drum, hung up the phone, got my parents & spent hours spraying the tree down w/ the sharpest knife from my collection with me. since then, I've going to the back lawn every morning pacing around the lawn for 3 hours to see if I can't find the snake. Did I really see it, or am I just nuts?

My friend was reaching under the kitchen sink and swear she saw a little brown roach scurry away. We immediately cleaned out everything from under the sink and, although I know not so healthy for us, sprayed the crap out of the cracks and possible openings with ant/roach Raid spray. Our building has had roach complaints for over a year but I've been lucky enough in three years to never see one.

I looked as carefully as I could but I don't think there's any roach droppings (but who knows) and i haven't seen anything else since. I'm leaning towards the side of caution but wondered what else I should be doing/looking for! Help!!

I'm about to have a baby any day now and don't want to mess with trying to scape it off and everything. It's an old house and there would probably be a lot of repair work needed.

I want to paint the ceilings throughout the house silver (shiny not flat grey) except the living room where there is an orange, yellow and blue sunset mural, but think it will look funky with the bumps on ceiling. Could I mix it with another color or glaze over it? The kitchen is bright orange and the rest of the house is painted either medium/dark grey or blue and I have silver accents throughout house. All the trimwork is dark walnut wood stain.

It has long leaves that come straight out of the ground, it's a perennial and I think it's bulbous, it has distinctive orange flowers that grow either side of a long stem (tend to flower in sucession up the stem - one pair will die and a higher pair with bloom) and grows about 40-60cm high, the leaves are a pale-mid green colour and it grows in clumps
