Well....i'm pretty sure that once you buy the flowers you can call them whatever you want :) Other than that, maybe do a google search of the lady's name+flower and see if anything comes up. Or find out if a particular flower is associated with the month of September (i searched for this and there were several answers).

Very sweet idea. You might be able to convince a smaller rose breeder to do this for you, though they usually name them after family or famous people. Try the folks at Nor'east Roses (1) or George Mander (2), a Canadian hybridizer. If they won't/can't, they might know someone who can.
And Jackson and Perkins offers you the opportunity to name a rose after someone, if you can afford $75,000. (3)

You won't be able to get a flower named after anyone but you might be able to find a plant that is already named with the same or similar name.
If you are in the UK go to this page
http://www.rhs.org.uk/rhsplantfinder/plantfinder.asp
Enter her first name in the search box and so long as it is not too unusual it should give you a list plants that have that name together with details of the nurseries that can supply them.
Good luck.

Contact a rose grower and put your case. It might be difficult. How about a different plant or a local hybridist who might be sympathetic if you put a good case.
