Any colour you can dream of! I'd make it bright , though.
Because....gray and white would be dull. Gray and black would be sad.
Gray and red...sexy. Gray and yellow...happy! Gray and purple...deep but ...tough ...
Go with your mood and good luck.

any colour u want - grey is nuetral so it will blend in with any main theme u have in mind.
a 'striking' effect would b grey sofa, white walls & black accessories. That's quite a masculine look.
a more feminine effect would b, i think, grey sofa, soft pink walls with a touch of light red, ie; lighting.
It depends on the shade of grey the sofa is, as to the effect you want to create.
If u have a digi. camera, there are some brill web sites that can give you inspiration.
Take photo's of the rooms you want to decorate, log on to the web sites & you can decorate a vitual image of your room in the colours you choose.
Most well-known paint manufact. have the facility to do this. (Dulux etc.) if yr stuck - go to yr local DIY & they'll give u heaps of advice.

Anything but brown.
Try:
white or ivory
powder pink or dusty rose
peach or coral
banana or lemon yellow
lime or mint green
aqua or sky blue
teal or smoke blue
purple or lavender
lighter or darker gray
gold or silver
black
Pick a light and a bright to add to room; say sky and smoke blue. Paint the walls sky blue, add pillows in sky and smoke, and a rug with smoke, gray, and black. Use curtains in wall shade, furniture shade, or combination of both.
Add some metal [ brass or chrome ] in mirror, lamps, candlesticks.
Other small accessoriies should be in wall [ sky ] color, sofa
[ gray ] color, or third [ smoke ] color.
Some fresh or dried flowers, or a potted plant - looks great!

i mean really what colors (or colours if you will) will match. but what type of gray are we talking about here? light gray or dark gray? because that will make the difference with your colo(u)r scheme.
or do you mean a sofa designed by someone with the last name grey that is just an orgasim of colo(u)r?

You need a contrast rather than a match; red and cream would be a super combination; or if you want to go monochrome - black and white, with red touches. A warm peach would also be nice, or a very pale mint green.

I would go for a dusky pink and cream, get cushions for the sofa in the same colour you go for on the walls to tie it all in.

If you are talking about paint on walls you could go for a muted red, i wouldn't try black even though goes with grey it would look like Halloween on a bad night.
