Depends on the flooring, I think. Navy blue can be a pretty strong color if it's paired with, for instance, blue carpeting as well. In which case, use neutral accessories to keep the colors from clashing so much it looks like an accident. On the other hand, if you have neutral carpeting or wood floors, you can add more 'pop' to the room. Bright reds and greens will give your room a nautical feel. Softer greens, grays and taupes will lighten up the feel of the furnishings. You might want to invest in an area rug that you love...with just a touch of the navy blue shade in it....to anchor your setting. Then pick up colors in the rug to accessorize. Just a thought.
Hope this helps!!

Not always a fan of cream but it looks great with navy blue. Besides, if you find a special decoration that is a different or odd color it will fit right in.

You have so many choices with navy blue. It all depends on the mood you want to create. If you want drama, use red throws, rugs, candles, lamps, flowers. Add a punch of yellow too. If you want a soothing look, go with caramel walls and accents. This would be a neutral pallette and you can change pillows and accessories according to the seasons. A soft sage green would look cool too.

for a beach or nautical look try whites and greys. But if you want to be more classical, bold colours like deep shades of red, glossy blacks and deep greys are nice. with white and navy blue, use different textures, so that u can create an oceanic theme, use bright bold accessories like glassware and stripes on fabrics to make it appear more uplifting. If you choose the more classical approach, glossy look is nice and deeper shades work well, but this would need more indoor lighting because it can seem too dark at times.

if you're the kind who loves vibrant colors, i'd suggest you pair up your furniture with decors which are bright, something orangey, hot pink or yellow. but if you prefer a more natural ans soothing blend or colors, i'd say go for creamy, off-white decors. maybe even pairing it up with taupe or tanned colored decors. hope you're having fun decorating your living room
