My spouse and I are in contact with some potential housecleaners for our 2 bd 1 ba house.

How do we decide which one to choose?

What kinds of questions should we ask in the first phone conversation?

How much tidying up should we do before each visit? We're fairly messy-will this make their job less efficient?

Are there certain groundrules that we'll need to establish right from the start?

Thanks for your input!

Be SURE that you ask for references & CALL those references. Don't take info over the phone. Set an appoinment up so you can meet the cleaning person on your turf. If there are areas that you want to remain untouched, tell her & make sure you physically show her, so she understands. You can set any groundrules you so desire, just sit down with your list & go over the rules with her. You don't need to tidy up before she visits, unless you would feel better about it.

Ask for phone numbers of her last 5 clinets......and do give them all a call.
My mother use to clean up before the house maid came......why have her come over in this case. If your a slob your a slob lol.
You may wish to establish a set time each week rather than have her come when she can fit you in.
A set price needs to be established as well

Good luck :)

you have to consider the orice and their methods of charging.

a good question would be, how long have you been in the bussiness, what materials will you bring

well there just here to cleacn the house not pick up dirty landry from the foor or stuff like dat.

and tell them what they can and cant touch, where they cant and can go, and in some cases what to clean and how.

hope this helps!

get references , also make a list of all the tasks they are going to do .as time goes on they will forget what you agreed on and they will end up doing less and less .so if you make a check list and leave it for them each week it helps them remember.
they get 90 bucks for our house it take 2 girls 3 hrs , we have 4200 s.f.
the amount of work is negotiable so you decide what you want them to do.
