I have these old kitchen cabinets that I'd like to clean, but everything I try using doesnt take off this gummy dirt that has collected. The dirt is around the areas where everyone is opening the cabinet doors. Ive tried using a small scrubby but that was a big no no because it started to take off the finish. Any ideas on what will remove the dirt? I've tried murphy's oil soap and no luck with that. Tried goo gone also and that didn't work either. Also, the cabinets are a light color so you can see the dirt!

if temp drops below the limit, then it would only have to heat up one or two degress. if you turn it on after gone all day, it might have to now heat up 10 or 15 degrees. What do people do usually? I prefer to leave on the heater at lower temperature like 60s when I'm not home and 65s when I'm home, but is turning it off when I'm not home the most efficient?

Recently, when a toilet is flushed, I notice that there is a gargling noise from the drains of the sinks and tubs in the house, depending on which toilet is flushed. What's going on?! Thanks.

After weeks of searching for a solid white dresser for my young daughter and only finding cheap particle board, we ordered an unfinished pine dresser. Now, I am nervous. My daughters bed and bookcase is white, so we wanted to keep this dresser white as well.

My question is should we stain it a white wash? (I know that pine can be a little tricky to stain and would need to use a wood conditioner first) or should we go ahead and paint it a bright white, like the rest of her furniture?

Anyone have experience with this? I really appreciate your help.

We just moved into a new home and I picked out ceramic tile that I thought had a more natural feel than glaze for the bathrooms. After actually walking on the floor, the tile felt a bit rough and dusty but now it doesn't (the floor may have actually been dusty or I might just have gotten used to it). I think that i might have picked out porous tile because when the floor gets a little wet, the tile seems to absorb the water. Is this damaging to the tile or floor beneath it or will the water eventually dry out?The saleswoman never informed me that this tile was special in any way. Thanks!
